LeadTip #59 Faith

Faith is something that needs to be fed. Faith is what causes us to make decisions that oppose unbelief, fear, carnal desires, emotions, and cultural deceptions.

Sometimes you need to go back into your memory to stir and renew faith. Remember the moments when the reality of God’s love through the sacrifice of Jesus became real. Remember the feelings of emptiness, meaninglessness and hopelessness before the Holy Spirit removed guilt, shame, and condemnation from your soul. Remember all the good things God has brought into your life, both big and small.

Faith requires action to stay alive.

Faith needs to be fed not only by hearing the Word of God, but by doing the Word of God.

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. James 2:26

You can see your level of faith by what you give.

God is a genius!  He gives you a measurable way that proves the reality of your faith – the tithe.  You can look at your bank account and measure your faith.

One of the easiest ways to test and grow your faith is by the giving of $1 out of every $10 earned as an offering – a tithe. Just remember the sacrifice Jesus made for you. Is God not more deserved than just 10%?  He is worthy of it all!

Another way to grow faith is by serving others and asking, “what can I do to help?”

I will never forget, as a young believer, being asked to carry music equipment back and forth to church. The church met in a local school. Again, God is a genius! He knew I had baby faith, and my church attendance would be tested. So, He arranged for me to serve at church. It was my responsibility to bring the worship equipment every Sunday. This act of service fostered growth in my spiritual commitment, godly relationships, and faith.  Jesus saved my soul, the church saved my life!

How do you know if you are living a life pleasing to God?

Measure your faith. You measure your faith by examining your giving, works, and your priorities.

And without faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.  Hebrews 11:6

Do not ever stop feeding your faith. Stay faithful in your giving, serving, and keeping Jesus at the center of your life.  Everything you give and do for the LORD, benefits yourself, your family, community, and the world.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Galatians 6:9
