LeadTip #31 Vision

And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. Habakkuk 2:2 KJV

✓ God has plans for you, a vision for your life. Seek it out!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

God wants you to have a vision for your life, for your now and future. Vision is seeing what God sees.

✓ Vision comes from thought, meditation, and prayer.

We often see prayer as solely a verbal act of bringing requests to God, but prayer is much more. It is a combination of meditation, speaking, listening and seeing beyond the now.

Prayer is a powerful way to meet with God in back and forth communication and relationship. It is a time to bring needs, cares, worries and burdens before God with words, verbal and written - by petition. It is also a time to listen. It is when ideas and plans are revealed.

Leaders take time to write things down. They not only read, but write, plan, and set goals. Daily to-do lists become routine and a discipline.

✓ Don’t fret or worry blur your vision. Instead of worrying, pray.

Let petitions and worship shape your worries into prayers and praise. Give God your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s Spirit will settle you down and you will see with clear vision.

It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. Philippians 4:7 MSG

✓ Prayer is a time of meditation and revelation, when the mundane is taken over by the supernatural and vision is received.

The greatest ideas and revelations are caught from beyond what already can be seen, from outside the nature realm of existence.

There is a spiritual world that exists with things not yet created, words not yet spoken, and plans not yet enacted. Vision and revelation come from this place and God wants us to discover our part in it all. He wants us to see what He sees. This comes through meditation and prayer.

It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. Proverbs 25:2

✓ Leadership is influencing others to see what you see in order to fulfill a big idea.

A leader must be able to articulate vision. Leaders think about how to communicate their vision with others to accomplish goals. They spend time thinking through the vision, praying about the vision, designing, and tweaking the vision.

For people to catch a vision and buy into it, the vision must be articulated with words spoken and written with passion. It must be presented in a way that is understandable, excitable, and valuable.

Leaders also ask God to reveal those He has placed on the earth to accomplish the vision. Jesus had a team and every team member was essential.

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Matthew 16:18
