LeadTip #44 The Circle of Life

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”

John 18:36

It is easy to identify what is really important to a person. Whatever our lives revolve around is what we will truly focus on, invest in, work on, and find our identity.

✓ When we look at the life of Jesus we see his main concern was achieving His Father’s will.

He lived on earth, but His eyes were focused on heaven. His ultimate mission was sacrificing His life for the salvation of mankind. His perspective was eternal and not temporal. The challenge we face as human beings is seeing the big picture and not getting stuck on the here and now. Not being ruled by fear and carnal desires, but by faith and pleasing God.

✓ I define the circle of life as a circle filled with many aspects of life seen as most important and valuable.

The cross was the center or focal point of Jesus’ circle of life. But there were other things in the circle as well, i.e., teaching truth, caring for the needy, healing the sick, delivering the oppressed, raising up disciples and building His church. His circle also included daily work as a young carpenter and caring for family needs.

✓ A Christian leader must understand his or her focal point.

What is the true purpose of your life? What is God’s mission for your life? What is most important? What is your real focal point? What kingdom are you truly living for?

The circle of your life will contain many different things, i.e., family, marriage, friends, career, finances, business, hobbies, entertainment, church, ministry, etc. But what will it all be for? Your answer will determine the focal point of your life and your ultimate identity and what others see you as.

Jesus was a carpenter, Paul a tent maker, and David a shepherd, but that was not their identity. Their eternal and earthly purpose was much higher and was established by God. Every one of us has a God given destiny. We must make decisions based upon eternity and not the temporal.

✓ God wants you to be successful in every godly aspiration.

The LORD wants you to have a blessed family, a prosperous and healthy life - body, soul and spirit. He wants you to have peace, joy, a sense of purpose, and fruitful ministry.

God wants to back you and supply all your needs according to His riches in glory. But God works around His true purpose for your life. His kingdom is not of this world. As you cause the focal point of your circle of life to be God’s focus your circle will prosper. God’s blessings will fill every aspect of your life as you live in His will and are able to say as Jesus said, “my kingdom is not of this world.”

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
