What to do when Starting Over

women_starting_over.png

When we try to make a new start in life we often tend to pursue things we think will fulfill us. Or, we become driven by personal goals and achievement. In fact, when we try to do things in our own strength we still end up feeling empty and may even find ourselves away from God.  But...guess what? He is still pursuing us in spite of ourselves!

This was my story! But with all stories, there are stops and starts, highs and lows and ebbs and flows. And my story isn’t over yet! Neither is yours...

I am starting over!

The key to starting over, whether it be a break-up, a divorce, a loss or empty nest, is to stay rooted and grounded in the things of God!

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7

I am rooted and grounded!

The dictionary defines rooted as “Firmly implanted or established.”

My experience in Christ defines it as when storms come upon my life, and they will, I will withstand whatever comes my way because I am rooted in the Word! I am embedded in His heart!

I am grounded in His House! My roots go so deep within the ground that I will not be moved by arduous circumstances, negativity, hurts from the past and even present challenges! God’s truths keep me whole! My family of God keeps me accountable! His love keeps me strong!

“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” Ephesians 3:17

I Trust in Him!

Trust is key in the starting over process!

The ultimate Trust is knowing Jesus walks with you daily; moment by moment! You can count on Him when you don’t know where to turn at times!

Pray out! He hears you! He will reply! He feels your pain and wants you to call on Him! He is closer than your very breath!

“The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalm 145:18

I am established!

Become established in the family of God! That means you are not a “pew sitter!” You serve wholeheartedly! Jesus deposits joy within you as you help others. Being others-oriented brings wholeness and stability to your life! This is the best way to start anew in whatever phase of life you are going through! Accountability and responsibility to one another establishes a sense of belonging! We belong to Him and nothing can change that!

Romans 8:37-39 - God's Love. ... “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

I am not alone!

When you know you have the love of Christ, a strong support system in the family of God, the heart to serve others, a surrendering of self and a spirit of gratitude, you have now paved a new start to your life!

You will see the blessings flow!  Will there still be highs and lows, ebbs and flows? Yes, but you won’t be going it alone in your own strength! You are rooted and grounded in Christ, He loves you, His mercies are new every morning and He will forever pursue you... so hold on!

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
