Our Culture
At Legacy Church, culture is not just what we do. It is who we are becoming together. These values shape how we worship, serve, lead, and love as the family of God.
"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer… And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
ACTS 2:42–47
This is the model we strive to follow at Legacy Church.
What Is Culture?
Culture is who we are. It is how we conduct ministry and why we do things the way we do. The environment we create, and what we celebrate, becomes the culture of the church. Likewise, whatever we allow to permeate the church, will eventually become culture if left unchecked.
Culture includes how people are welcomed and treated, leadership style and humility, passion for spiritual living, honor, unity, generosity, and servanthood. It also includes the expectations for holiness, love, and spiritual growth, and how conflict and challenges are handled.
The "feel" of a church is greatly shaped by its culture. At Legacy, we are committed to a culture of Loving God and Loving People.
Every church has its own unique culture, atmosphere, and way of doing ministry. At Legacy, we strive to model the New Testament church described in the Bible. We are a community devoted to teaching, fellowship, prayer, and the power of God moving among His people.
Culture Is Unique
Our Ten Core Values
These values define who we are as a church and guide everything we do together as a team.
-
We believe God is not an addition to our lives, but the very center of our lives. We build our lives around a relationship with Jesus, His Church, and living according to His ways and purposes. We do not embrace lukewarm Christianity, but seek to honor God wholeheartedly and live fully surrendered to Him
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." — Matthew 6:33
-
We believe worship is essential to both our personal lives and the life of the church. Worship is not secondary to ministry. It is ministry. This is why we prioritize worship and come prepared to honor God together. We seek to follow the Bible's expressions of worship, including lifting holy hands, singing, clapping, dancing, and joyful praise before the Lord.
"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord." — Psalm 122:1
-
Prayer fills every aspect of our lives and ministry. We pray in church and at home. We believe prayer changes everything, and therefore make it central to all we do at Legacy. Through gatherings such as CU@12 Facebook Prayer, Fire Core, Service Prayer, Altar Prayer, Crew Prayer, and Team Prayer, we seek to build a culture saturated with prayer.
"My house shall be called a house of prayer." — Matthew 21:13
-
We passionately seek the presence of the Holy Spirit both corporately and privately. We invite Him into our church services, ministry times, homes, and everyday lives. We believe in healing, deliverance, miracles, the gifts of the Spirit, and the transforming power of God.
"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." — 2 Corinthians 3:17
-
We believe the Bible is the inerrant and authoritative Word of God, providing truth, wisdom, and direction for every area of life. We encourage daily Bible reading, bringing Bibles to church, taking notes, growing in biblical understanding, and continual spiritual growth through God's Word.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." — 2 Timothy 3:16-17
-
Our culture is one of serving the Lord and serving people. Church is more than attending. It is participating in the life and ministry of God's House. We are the church! We believe every believer has a purpose and should serve on a Ministry Team. We value excellence in all we do.
"The greatest among you will be your servant." — Matthew 23:11
-
The church is the family of God. We are brothers and sisters in Christ, called into meaningful relationship with one another. This is why we encourage involvement in Crews and Ministry Teams. We are committed to building strong, multigenerational ministry, including children, youth, young adults, adults, and seniors. We believe every generation has a vital role in the work of the Lord.
"All the believers were together and had everything in common." — Acts 2:44
-
We believe in biblical stewardship through tithing, generous giving, wise financial living, and caring for those in need. Money is not something we avoid talking about, but something we seek to bring under God's authority and purpose. We desire to honor God with our resources and live according to biblical principles.
"Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." — 2 Corinthians 9:6
-
Like Jesus, we desire for all people to be saved. This is why we present the opportunity to receive Jesus Christ at every church service. We believe every believer is called to share their faith and invite others to experience the love of Christ and the life changing power of the Holy Spirit.
"The Lord is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." — 2 Peter 3:9
-
At Legacy, we seek to love God and love people with sincerity and authenticity. We desire to cultivate a culture filled with the genuine love of Christ and unified around the purposes of God. We honor our pastors, leaders, volunteers, and church family. We resist gossip, division, offense, and disunity, and instead pursue peace, humility, integrity, and the unity of the Holy Spirit.
"Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace." — Ephesians 4:3
